More Exercises to Get Rid of Body Fat
April 29, 2009
This is getting to be a nice little series isn’t it? In yesterday’s post we went over some variations on the classic pushup. These variations will allow just about anyone to perform this fat burning super exercise by redistributing the weight and resistance throughout the move. I suggest you get on that one!
Today I am going to go into another body weight exercise. This is one of the most effective core exercises you can do to get rid of body fat. Not only does it tighten your abs, but it challenges nearly all of the muscles in your upper body, and if you have just a tiny bit of strength, you can do it! There are also several variations you can do with it to make it more effective and hit more muscle groups.
This is called a bridge, or a plank. What you are going to do is lie face first on the ground with your arms over your head. Now, bring your arms in under your chest as you support your weight on your knees and begin to support your upper body with your forearms. Make sure you keep your forearms on the ground flat or you are going to have trouble. Now, if you can (try very hard) bring your weight up onto your toes like a pushup. If you can’t do this, use your knees for now, but work your way up to your toes.
All you are going to do is support yourself for 15-20 seconds (longer if you can), and then release. Do a couple of these inbetween your other exercises for a nice abs addition to your workout. If they are too easy use a swiss ball or move your hips back and forth during the exercise to challenge your obliques.
If you have questions or comments please feel free to post them. We’ll go ahead and stop there for today and I’ll bring you another great full body exercise tomorrow. This one is amazing! You won’t want to miss it.
